'I Have Boogers': Adorable Boy Sneezes, Needs A Tissue (VIDEO)

Sometimes kids have a hard time expressing what's on their minds, but when the evidence is dangling right under their noses, words aren't really necessary.

Nevertheless, this adorable boy turns to the camera to state the obvious after a simple sneeze produces some rather unexpected results.

"Boogers. I have boogers," the youngster says as he turns his attention from his cereal. He calmly places the spoon back into the bowl and patiently waits for some assistance. Tissue, please!

Don't worry, buddy. It happens. Somebody give this cutie an award for keeping his composure.

Bonnaroo Gets Party Started With Alabama Shakes, Kendrick Lamar

Variety is the rule at Tennessee festival's Thursday kickoff.

MANCHESTER, Tennessee — The 11th annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival kicked off Thursday with a characteristically diverse mix of artists representing funk, blues, hip-hop, reggae, electronic, indie rock and even mariachi.

The rootsy Alabama Shakes, who broke earlier this year, nabbed a closing spot on opening night, grooving through "Hang Loose" and their first single, "Hold On." Frontwoman Brittany Howard had the crowd feeling her pain as she wailed "Rise to the Sun."

For photos from Bonnaroo, click here.

Kendrick Lamar brought his West Coast gangsta rap to the dirty South. And while he clearly had many fans in the crowd — spitting along to "P & P" and "A.D.H.D." — he took time to address a vocal hater in the front row. "He's telling us that I'm not the best rapper alive today," Lamar announced. "Can I prove it to him?" He responded with the frantic "Look Out for Detox." Earlier in the night, the stage was handled by rappers Danny Brown and Shady Records signee Yelawolf.

Soja's devotees were treated to "Here I Am," "Everything Changes" and a bit of advice from singer Jacob Hemphill, who urged his audience of reggae lovers to check out Bad Brains, hardcore punk pioneers who also delved into reggae. Bad Brains is scheduled for their first Bonnaroo appearance on Saturday afternoon.

Just after sunset, Moon Taxi lit up That Tent with jazzy keyboard and bass solos. Also Thursday, Big Gigantic managed to seamlessly blend Jay-Z's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder," Aloe Blacc's "I Need a Dollar," electro and high-speed drum and bass — all while featuring live saxophone. Mimosa gave a shout-out to fellow Bonnaroo performer Ludacris, mixing the rapper's "What's Your Fantasy" into a set that also included DJ Darude's decade-old trance classic "Sandstorm."

Over four days, nights and early mornings, Bonnaroo will bring fans more than 150 bands and nearly two dozen comedians. Friday (June 8) features Radiohead, Foster the People, Feist, and Mos Def and Talib Kweli as Black Star. The 2012 lineup also includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beach Boys, Phish, Skrillex, Alice Cooper, Fun. and Bon Iver.

After converting the Chinese to basketball, NBA has set sights on India

Heidi Ueberroth, President of NBA International says she has the 'world's best job'. But it's not the fame that she enjoys - though she's got oodles of it, including epithets like 'The Goddess of Wealth' from the Chinese media. The Vanderbilt University Arts graduate, who is tasked with building NBA's presence outside the States through media and marketing efforts, loves the opportunity to travel and interact with young fans across the world.

And after a successful innings in China, where she played a key role in the formation of NBA's local operations, secured many critical partnerships and helped developed three NBAstyle arenas, she's now hoping to keep that victory streak going in India.

Excerpts from Ueberroth's interview to CD:

What is the NBA's vision for the global future of basketball?

Our overall goal is to increase participation in the game, grow the number of NBA fans and engage our current fans. Our potential possible fan base in the US is just 300 million, but worldwide, it is 7 billion. To reach out to as many people as we can, we have 16 offices worldwide and NBA action is being broadcast in 215 countries in 47 languages. The NBA itself has changed over the past few years. About 80 players, or around 20% of the league, come from approximately 35 countries outside the US. And what's unique about the NBA is that unlike, say soccer, it has the best players in the world in a single league. So people everywhere aspire to play in it and that's enriched the game globally.

How did you crack the code for succeeding in China?

The NBA has been holding exhibition games in China for around three decades, but my first trip there was in 1995 to work with our media partners. And the number of visits kept growing. The size and scope of the country and having to keep up with the demand, was a real challenge. So we invested a lot in areas like recruiting and training people, infrastructure and operations expansion. We're fortunate that Chinese fans are really tech savvy. For example, we already have 52 million followers on the microblogging service Weibo. Today, China is our second largest market outside of the States. So we're doing some pretty unique stuff there, like getting into arena design and 3D telecasts. We're even releasing a feature film there later in the fall.

Popularising basketball in India is no walk in the park. How do you plan to do it?

We're aware we need a long-term perspective and honestly, we're excited about the untapped potential India offers. There's this increasing middle class here that's looking for entertainment and leisure options. In cities, people want more options for fitness and sport that require very little space. And basketball is ideal, because it is played by both boys and girls. The response is encouraging already. Our customised India pages on nba.com and dedicated India Facebook pages are seeing double and triple percent growth in traffic. On the ground, fans and corporates have been supportive as well. When we launched our recreational league with the Mahindra Group in 5 cities, fans travelled 10 hours to participate in it. So we see amazing potential, which is why we opened an office at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai last October.

Has the Indian Premier League (IPL) left room for other high-profile sporting leagues in India?

Oh yes. We watched the successful launch of the IPL closely and it encouraged us, because we saw a real interest not just in cricket, which already is so popular, but also in the kind of sports-cum-entertainment that the IPL represents. It's creating a great demand for more such entertainment events. And there is no doubt India has the capacity to produce great athletes in multiple sports going ahead.

How will the NBA help in building sporting infrastructure here?

One of the areas we're focused on is making the game more accessible through refurbishment of playing courts. For example, we recently refurbished two courts at St Dominic Savio school in Andheri. But more than that, it's about providing relationships to keep the aspirations. I was moved when I saw children interacting with star player and global NBA ambassador Dikembe Mutombo. From just a handful of kids using the courts earlier, 150 schoolchildren are playing today. Also we're helping on the instructional side - working with recreational leagues to organised competitive formats and coaching the coaches. We're also using events as a way to introduce the game to possible non-participants. Our largest NBA Jam (online and video game) fan event to date happened at one of the big malls here. So there's a big effort at the grassroots, combined with introducing fans to all the action. There are six live games a week shown being shown on Indian television and there will much more in the social and digital media space.

Last year, the NBA went into lockdown mode and the season was curtailed because of conflicts over player payments. Did that affect your international agenda?

We have a long term view, so no, our plans have not changed. Our fans, too, have responded very well to the start of the new basketball season. Our popularity is an all-time high. And we are still very much committed to our international growth plans.

For an arts graduate, your choice of career is quite unusual. Were you inspired by your father ( Peter Ueberroth, who served as commissioner of US major league baseball in the eighties)?

Even before my father took up baseball, I was fortunate to travel around the world because our family owns a travel business. I first went to Hong Kong at age 11 and that created a lifelong interest in Asia. Those experiences were a big influence when it came to my career as well, because I wanted to work in different cultures.

How did you first react to being called 'The Goddess of Wealth'? (Laughs)

That happened a long time ago in China when we attended a game and people thought we were talent scouts (though we weren't). And the nickname spread thanks to the power of the Internet. If you look at China, sports as entertainment is a recent phenomena and NBA players are iconic, pop culture figures and that's probably why I earned that nickname. But I try to avoid it.

There are few women heading international sports leagues today. Do you aspire to be NBA commissioner some day?

I've got the best job in the NBA right now. I sell a product that really connects with the youth and I've travelled the world and experienced many cultures over the last 17 years. And yeah, I think we're seeing an incredible time for women in all sports and there are terrific opportunities out there for them to get the top job.

Death toll at 9 for Americans killed in Nigeria crash

Sunday Alamba / AP

Rescue workers watch as a crane lifts the wreckage of Sunday's plane crash in Lagos, Nigeria.

?

By msnbc.com news services

The death toll for Americans killed when a plane crashed in Nigeria Sunday has risen to nine from seven, the U.S. State Department?said Wednesday.

The Dana Air plane that crashed in Lagos, killing all 153 people on board, is Nigeria's worst airline disaster in two decades.

After Nigeria plane crash, families mourn; government suspends airline

The McDonnell Douglas MD-83, operated by privately owned domestic airline Dana Air, smashed into an apartment block in a densely populated suburb on Sunday afternoon, killing everyone on board and probably six people on the ground.

NBC's Rohit Kachroo reports on the crash.

"From the record of communication that we have, the captain of the aircraft called the traffic control in Lagos declaring a mayday and reported dual engine failure," Aviation Minister Stella Oduah told journalists at the presidential villa. "It was shortly after the captain's distress call that the aircraft could no longer be seen in the radar and communication was lost."

The government has set up panels to review the safety of all airlines in the country and suspended Dana Air's air license.

Dana Air has said there was nothing wrong with the aircraft.

Engine problems eyed after passenger jet crashes in Nigeria suburb

"Dana Air takes safety very seriously and our aircraft are sound," Dana Director Francis Ogboro told a news conference, repeating the company's position that there was no mechanical fault with the plane before it went down.

Workers have finished recovering bodies from the rubble, Lagos state attorney general Ade Ipaye said. In total, 149 bodies and a number of body parts were found. Around two-thirds of the remains could not be identified and were to undergo?identification at a forensics laboratory.

Vietnam property market waits for frozen credit to thaw | Real Estate ...

Capital depletion and frozen credit are posing many problems for all economic sectors, and people hope that once bad debts are resolved and credit is defrosted, it would help revive the economy, including the property market.

Settling bad debts

Tackling capital depletion and frozen credit is a critical issue at present, said Le Xuan Nghia, former vice chairman of the National Financial Supervision Committee, at the seminar called ?Reviving real estate resources? held by Lao Dong newspaper last Thursday in HCM City.

He said the Government had never paid so much attention to the property market as they do now. If the Government?s solutions show effect, the realty market will gradually recover in line with the economy.

Like other sectors, the property market is waiting for the bailout package for enterprises. Particularly, property is no longer classified as a market where loans are discouraged and real estate firms will enjoy one-year extensions of value-added tax, corporate income tax, land rent and land use fee.

However, even when debt repayment is extended and lending rates are lowered, nothing will be solved if enterprises are unable to take out new loans. As such, settling bad debts is an important issue now, Nghia underscored.

The economic expert described bad debts as a car that breaks down in the middle of the road and disrupts traffic flow. Therefore, that car must be pushed off the road, he stressed.

The Government estimated some 120 trillion dong, or US$6 billion, would be needed to remove bad debts from balance sheets of banks, and then enterprises would be qualified to take out new loans.

According to Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tran Nam, apart from the government bonds, accelerating disbursement for public investment will also promote the property market.

Saving themselves

However, Nam said property companies must take measures to overcome their own difficulties. In addition, they have to look at the market to develop projects in accordance with their capabilities.

At a seminar on finding a way out for property firms organized by the HCM City Real Estate Association (HoREA) last week, participants shared the view that enterprises must save themselves, even take the initiative to leave the market before their business get worse.

Vu Dinh Anh, former deputy director of the Market and Price Research Institute under the Ministry of Finance, said Vietnam?s economy this year might repeat the same scenario in 2009, when it was greatly affected by the global financial crisis. Therefore, real estate enterprises cannot avoid the impacts of the macro-economy, as the property market cannot prosper when economic growth goes down.

Property credit makes up 10% of the total credit, or 280 trillion dong. More notably, some 60% of the total credit is mortgaged by property or related to property, said Anh.

The problem of real estate companies is currently bank loans and lending rates. However, property developers have to answer what they borrow for, as owners of several projects are unable to sell their products.

Therefore, experts said enterprises should consider adjusting their business strategies in accordance with the current situation.

Poor liquidity is the key problem of the realty market at present, so enterprises are offering discounts to lure customers. For example, Hoang Anh Gia Lai has announced to cut their apartment prices by a half compared to the projects in HCM City?s District 7.

Anh noted enterprises are forced to discount their products, or pull out of the market when there is no chance left for them.

?Don?t be ashamed of your decision to withdraw from the market,? said Anh, adding that many foreign companies had left Vietnam?s market last year due to loss-making businesses. Still, not any property firm is able to withdraw from the market at present.

Do Thi Loan, vice chairwoman cum general secretary of HoREA, said many enterprises are still struggling with their projects, bank debts and unsold products, and thus it is impossible for them to escape from the market. - Saigon Times

Wisconsin recall battle finally goes to voters

MADISON, Wis. (AP) ? The battle over Gov. Scott Walker's agenda has attracted millions of dollars from out of state, campaign volunteers from across the country and months of concentrated attention from the two major political parties.

But on Tuesday, the only voices that matter will be those of Wisconsin voters deciding whether to keep Walker or fire him and hand his job to the Milwaukee mayor. After more than a year in the national spotlight, both sides are preparing for a razor-thin margin.

Polls show Walker, a Republican just 17 months into his term, with a small lead over Democrat Tom Barrett.

"Now it's our turn to speak," an exuberant Barrett told campaign workers Monday in Portage. "We the people of the state of Wisconsin are going to reclaim our future."

During Monday's first campaign stop, Walker said he expects a close race, too, and he's focused on turning out voters who supported his efforts to take on public-employee unions.

"We want to move on and move forward," Walker said at a plastics plant near Madison. He was joined by his wife, Tonette, who wore a button that read "Luv My Gov."

Walker planned other campaign stops at a brewery in Stevens Point and a distillery in Green Bay before wrapping up with a nighttime rally in Milwaukee.

Barrett was spending most of Monday in western and northern Wisconsin before ending his day with a rally at a United Auto Workers union hall in Kenosha.

Walker is only the third governor in U.S. history to face a recall vote. The other two lost, most recently California Gov. Gray Davis in 2003. Wisconsin's recall election is a rematch of the 2010 governor's race in which Walker defeated Barrett by 5 percentage points.

Anger over Walker and his conservative agenda began building almost as soon as he took office in January 2011. Just a month into his term, Walker took the state by surprise with a proposal to effectively end collective bargaining rights for most state workers ? a measure he said was needed to ease budget problems. The recall idea emerged soon thereafter.

But the recall petition drive couldn't officially start until November, months after Walker signed the union changes into law. Organizers hit the streets a week before Thanksgiving and spent two months gathering more than 900,000 signatures ? about 360,000 more than were needed to trigger the election.

Retired teacher Jan Stebbins cast her ballot early for Barrett, just as she did two years ago. She said she's been offended by Walker, not by what he's done but "how he's done it."

Stebbins can't stand the division that's emerged in the past two years.

By Wednesday morning, she hopes the state "gets back to a little bit more unity," she said. "I don't know what will happen."

Todd Schober, a financial planner from Racine, voted for Walker in 2010 and plans to do so again on Tuesday.

"When is this going to end?" he asked after shaking his head and sighing. "I'm just going to be so glad when it's all over."

Walker, the 44-year-old son of a minister, has remained unflappable throughout the campaign just as he was during the massive protests that raged at the Statehouse for weeks as lawmakers debated his proposal.

Along the way, he's become a star among Republicans and the most successful fundraiser in Wisconsin politics, collecting at least $31 million from around the country since taking office. That obliterated his fundraising record of $11 million from 2010.

About $63 million has been spent on the race so far, including $16 million from conservative groups such as the Republican Governors Association, Americans for Prosperity and the National Rifle Association.

Democratic groups ? including those funded by unions, the Democratic Governors Association and the Democratic National Committee ? have poured in about $14 million, based on a tally from the government watchdog group the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.

The majority of Walker's donations have come from people outside Wisconsin. Most of Barrett's $4.2 million came from inside the state.

The race has broad implications for national labor unions. It's also seen as a proxy fight for the presidential election, especially given the importance of Wisconsin and its 10 electoral votes.

President Barack Obama has kept his distance, just as he did during the unrest last year. Other prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, campaigned for Barrett in the week leading up to the vote.

White House press secretary Jay Carney was asked during a briefing Monday why Obama wasn't campaigning for Barrett.

"The president supports him, stands by him," Carney said, adding that Obama hopes Barrett prevails.

The president himself took to the social media micro-blogging site Twitter late Monday to send much the same message.

"It's Election Day in Wisconsin tomorrow," Obama tweeted, "and I'm standing by Tom Barrett. He'd make an outstanding governor. -bo"

Walker enlisted the support of several prominent national Republicans, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a self-proclaimed "union-buster."

Walker's lieutenant governor, Rebecca Kleefisch, and three Republican state senators also face recall votes Tuesday. And voters will fill a fourth state Senate seat after the Republican incumbent resigned rather than face the recall.

A Marquette University Law School poll released last week showed Walker with a narrow 7-percentage point lead over Barrett, 52 percent to 45 percent. The poll's margin of error was 4.1 percentage points. In the same poll two weeks earlier, Walker held a 6-point lead, 50 percent to 44 percent.

The poll also showed the deep division in Wisconsin, where 39 percent of respondents said they liked the job Walker has done and 38 percent said they did not like it. Twenty-one percent said they like what he's done, just not how he did it.

In the days leading up to the election, they expressed a mixture of anticipation and fatigue with the political turmoil.

In the working-class city of Janesville, signs on both sides of the election were scattered across the community, some just a few feet apart.

Retired businessman Dave Flury plans to support Walker. And he's worried about what will happen if Barrett wins.

"If Walker loses, shouldn't Republicans turn right around and recall Barrett?" Flury asked.

For months, voters have been inundated with telephone calls, campaign mail and television advertising. Barrett supporter John Oehrke is ready for all of it to end.

"It doesn't really matter who wins I guess," Oehrke said. "It's all crazy."

Jay Townsend, GOP Spokesman, Apologizes For Controversial Facebook Comment

Jay Townsend, campaign spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.), has apologized for writing a Facebook comment advocating violence against female Democratic senators, calling his words "stupid" and "easily misconstrued."

The apology came one week after Townsend's vicious online rant, in which he wrote "Let?s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won?t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector."

His comments provoked a firestorm of controversy, which culminated on Sunday with a local newspaper editorial calling for him to be fired. "If Rep. Nan Hayworth, R-Mount Kisco, decides to keep Jay Townsend anywhere near her campaign after his outburst on Facebook this week, she will be sending the unmistakable message that she agrees with his stand -- If you don't like the politics of your opponent, react with violence," the board wrote. "[I]t is hard to believe that Townsend -- with his broad and deep experience in politics -- could make such a callous remark without understanding the consequences."

Townsend's full apology, as posted on his personal Facebook page on Sunday is below:

On May 26, I posted a stupid, thoughtless, and insensitive comment on a facebook page. It was stupid because my words were easily misconstrued; thoughtless because my choice of words obscured a point I was trying to make, and insensitive because some have interpreted the comment as advocating a violent act.

To friends, associates, and clients I have offered my apology for the embarrassment I have caused, and do hereby offer it to the many who rightly found fault with my incendiary choice of words.

The mistake was mine, and mine only and the post in no way was intended to represent the views of anyone for whom I have worked or represented.

His apology was posted two days after Hayworth's campaign put out a statement calling the uproar over the comments a 'manufactured controversy.' Still, the campaign specifically distanced itself from his remark, explaining it was "not made on behalf of the Congresswoman or her campaign and was clearly not meant to be taken literally."

Democrat Richard Becker, who is competing against Hayworth in New York's 18th Congressional district, has called on the freshman representative to fire Townsend immediately. "It's just mind boggling that a Congressional spokesman would use this kind of incendiary and downright offensive language and equally shocking that his boss would not instantly fire him for doing so," Becker wrote in a Facebook statement. "The specific choice of words here is also particularly sickening. Acid attacks on women have a disturbing and disgusting history -- they're used almost exclusively to silence and punish women across the globe who've bravely spoken out on behalf of their human rights."

Becker also suggested Townsend may have violated 18 USC 115, a federal law prohibiting anyone from threatening "to assault, kidnap, or murder, a United States official... with intent to impede, intimidate, or interfere with such official."

Hayworth's campaign has found itself in a bit of a PR crisis. Hundreds of negative comments on her Facebook page have been removed, according to screenshots provided by Becker. The selective editing has not gone unnoticed by her readers.

"If Nan is so blameless why is she running away from comments made by her own constituents and wiping out the posts of concerned citizens? Innocent people don't run away and hide. If you have nothing to be ashamed of Ms. Hayworth why are you scrubbing your FB pages?" wrote one commenter. Another person added: "It says a lot that you only keep comments from the ones who praise you. Says a lot about character."

Numerous churches today conduct their evangelism online to contact as many people as they can, which is why churches actually spend substantial revenue to maintain their domain and keep their Internet sites attractive.

In Australia where Christianity is all popular, thanks to the mega-organization Hillsong Church in Sydney, smaller churches are also striving to produce a bigger impact in their community by means of interactive websites where church members go to stay up-to-date with the most recent events, devotionals and messages from the pastors. These small community churches do not have the same revenue as Hillsong, but they can also get their good news out there through the use of a professional web design team. A trusted web design has all of the technological know-how and instruments to fortify your church?s communication with its members; a message board is a feature that the web design team can develop wholly to make discussion easier and more manageable for both the administrator and the users.

An excellent design may actually motivate more visitors to have a tour of a church?s website. Add-on features like animation, videos and music can give a more pleasant viewing experience which may increase traffic on the site. A great web design can integrate all of these features in such a way that the loading of the site isn?t going to get affected so much. Also, having professionals do the job for your church can optimize the effectiveness of the many purposes of the site. If your church wishes to stream worship services live for people that can?t attend church, surely a web expert is expected to make this a possible provision in the website. If the church has goods or if it works with certain advocacies that require online donations, an e-commerce shopping cart may be needed for them. Adding this function might be a gnarly process, so if your church website needs to incorporate different features all at once, it?s better to just entrust this task to someone that has proper training.

Though website designers may not possess your spiritual beliefs, you can depend on them to have the comprehension of the various ways to execute your church?s mission in the lives of those that find comfort in the church?s dynamics. Consider a trusted and great web design to handle your church?s spiritual mission in the virtual world.

Cairns web design has all of the technological know-how and tools to strengthen your church?s communication with its members. It has a message board developed fully to make communication simpler and much more manageable both for the administrator and the users. Mom Mart: How To Plan The Perfect Baby Shower ? Courtesy of ...

Today?s guest post is from Jennifer Link, founder of Sweet Pea Baby Planners New York. ?I love babies and all of the joy and spontaneity that comes with them. I can also remember feeling completely overwhelmed when it came to my baby shower and what I needed as a new mom. ?So I am always willing to listen to other experienced moms advice. Be sure and comment and let us know your thoughts as well!

Jennifer?s experience and passion for supporting parents came to fruition after years of dedicating herself to working in marketing and business development within major media and music companies.? She started working as a baby planner when she realized that she could share her knowledge and experience as an expecting mom and also as a parent with others - and help her clients enjoy the process while she made sure they were prepared.?

A baby shower is a great time for a family to celebrate the impending arrival of a little one!?There are so many options out there of what can make a great shower - but here are a few tips to get off to a good start:

  • Know the mom well. Have a party that is just her speed.?Whether it is classic with flowers and centerpieces or a simple gathering with snacks like Eleni?s New York cookies and fresh fruit, make sure the party is for that mom (or the couple).

  • Planning a shower with a theme can be fun, but having just the right theme might be hard to pick. So go for colors.?Pick two or three colors and let that carry throughout the entire shower. ?From invitations to decor and sweets, to thank yous and birth announcements. Tiny Prints has a great selection of adorable stationery to choose from.

  • Having a shower for the couple (or a co-ed shower) has grown in popularity. ?And it lets both of the expecting parents enjoy the merriment, just be clear in the invitation whether this is ?Girls Only, No Boys Allowed? or not.

  • Plan for the shower to happen between 30 and 34 weeks of the pregnancy.?That way if something needs to be returned/exchanged or additional items need to be acquired there is still some time to do that. It?s always best to be as completely prepared as possible by week 36 in case someone decides to make an early entrance. Plus who really wants to spend the last 3 or 4 weeks of pregnancy running around. It?s the time to soak in life and do those things that you might not want to do for the first few months of life with a little one.

  • A great gift for mom is to put together a post-delivery or post-arrival package for her. Include some great lotion or some other favorite personal care item that she might enjoy. Mustela 9 Months Nursing Comfort Balm and Post Partum Body Restructuring Gel are a great start to building a must-have bundle.

  • Don't forget something that she can take home the day of the shower and use immediately. Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action to the rescue! Using it to prevent stretch marks from the beginning of pregnancy is ideal, but it?s also important to continue to use it post birth to support ?bouncing back.?

  • Mustela makes a great gift for the new baby, which is also the perfect shower gift - the essential Newborn Set has everything one needs for those early weeks. Even if someone hasn't registered for it, go ahead and get it for them - they'll be grateful.

  • When registering, you should also select items that are appropriate for ages up to 18 months. Everyone thinks about items for newborns, but this can be greatly helpful to be prepared with items for your baby as he or she grows.? A BABYBJ?RN baby carrier for 3+ months is a great gift that can be used for months!
  • When registering, it?s important to remember the gift givers and baby shower guest list.?Getting to mom?s local store might be a challenge so registering with an online retailer like Diapers.com makes it easy for everyone. They?re a great resource for mom, and gifts will shop directly to her.

  • Lastly, if the family is not planning a shower for logistical, religious or other reasons always ask if they have registered so that a gift that they might really need can be purchased.

Dow plunges more than 200 after dismal jobs report

A dismal U.S. jobs report and other evidence of a global economic slowdown clobbered U.S. stocks Friday. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped more than 200 points, leaving it down for the year.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index and Nasdaq composite index both fell more than 2 percent, and the Dow was on track for its steepest one-day drop in more than six months.

American employers added just 69,000 jobs in May, the fewest in a year, and the unemployment rate increased to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent. Economists had forecast a gain of 158,000 jobs.

The report, considered the most important economic indicator each month, also said that hiring in March and April was considerably weaker than originally thought.

"The big worry now is that this economic slowdown is widening and accelerating," said Sam Stovall, chief equity strategist at S&P Capital IQ, a market research firm.

The job picture remained dark elsewhere in the world. Unemployment in the 17 countries that use the euro currency stayed at a record-high 11 percent in April, and unemployment spiked to almost 25 percent in Spain.

There were also signs that growth in China, which helped sustain the global economy through the recession, is slowing significantly. China's manufacturing weakened in May, according to surveys released Friday.

The Dow fell 242 points to 12,151 as of 1:30 p.m. EDT, leaving it down 0.5 percent for the year. Two months ago, the Dow was up more than 8 percent for the year.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 29 points to 1,281. The Nasdaq dropped 70 to 2,757. Both indexes are still up for the year ? just shy of 2 percent for the S&P 500 and 6 percent for the Nasdaq.

Traders sold all types of risky investments and stampeded toward the safety of U.S. government bonds and gold. Bond prices rose sharply, pushing the yield on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury note down to 1.44 percent, the lowest on record.

Gold rose $59 an ounce to $1,624. For much of the past three years, investors have bought gold for safety during a turbulent time for the world economy. That effect appeared to wear off this spring as the dollar strengthened against the faltering euro. Commodities like gold are often valued by dollars, so when the dollar rises, those commodities become more expensive.

May was the worst month for the stock market in two years by some measures. Investors' worries about Europe's debt crisis intensified as the month wore on. Greece's political future is uncertain, and it appears increasingly likely to exit the euro currency. That could rattle financial markets and make Greece's economy ? already hobbled ? even weaker.

Friday's jobs report drew traders' attention back to the weakening U.S. economy, said Todd Salamone, director of research for Schaeffer's Investment Research in Cincinnati.

"The weaker jobs report translates into anticipation of slower growth ahead and weaker corporate earnings, and that ratchets stock prices lower," Salamone said.

The record-low yield on the 10-year Treasury note reflected rapid buying by big traders with the biggest portfolios, including central banks, endowments and pension funds, said Ira Jersey, U.S. interest rate strategist at Credit Suisse. He said money managers were selling investments priced in euros and stashing their money in U.S. securities.

Stovall said that traders are waiting to see what governments and central banks might do to juice global economic activity. Otherwise, the losses would be even deeper, he said.

The Fed undertook programs in 2009 and 2010 to buy U.S. government bonds. The goal was to lower interest rates and help stock prices. The central bank so far has resisted a third round of purchases, known as quantitative easing.

Anticipation of bond-buying by the Fed "might put in a little bit of a floor to the market, but the overall economic picture is still bad," said Bob Gelfond, CEO of MQS Asset Management, a New York hedge fund.

The dollar weakened. The euro rose half a penny against the dollar to about $1.24. A day earlier, fears about Europe's finances had pushed the euro to a nearly two-year low against the dollar.

Gold spiked and the dollar fell partly because traders expect more intervention by the Federal Reserve, Gelfond said.

Bond-buying adds to the supply of money coursing through the economy and leads some investors to worry about future inflation, which would make the dollar less valuable. Traders buy gold as a hedge against inflation.

Geoffrey Yu, currency strategist at UBS in London, agreed that speculation about Fed action had sparked the dollar's sharp decline after the jobs report was released. But he said that knee-jerk reaction was brief, and the dollar stabilized as people recognized that the Fed will likely hold off on more action unless things deteriorate further.

Fewer than 20 of the 500 companies in the S&P index were higher for the day.

Homebuilder stocks fell the most, despite a report that construction spending rose for a second month in April. PulteGroup fell 11 percent, D.R. Horton and Lennar 9 percent. The three had the biggest declines of companies in the S&P 500.

Boeing, the biggest U.S. exporter, fell 3 percent, one of the biggest declines among the 30 companies that make up the Dow. Traders fear that the economic slowdown will hurt global demand for its airplanes and defense technologies.

A slower global economy would reduce demand for energy. The price of a barrel of oil fell about $3 to $83.21, extending a monthlong slide.

Stocks closed way down in Europe. Greece's benchmark stock index fell 4.4 percent, Germany's 3.4 percent and France's 2.2 percent.

But before the main event, "Rock of Ages" will round out rain Channing Tatum, witnessed a naughty teacher seduce a young Adam Sandler and watched as Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth almost got hacked up by dwarves. There's no doubt the folks behind "Rock of Ages" will bring us an equally juicy exclusive — maybe featuring one of the A-list cameos or a massive dance number?

Using Sound Waves to Treat Cancer | HealthHub | Brigham and ...

focused ultrasound image

Doctors are using high-intensity focused ultrasound to treat major diseases, including cancer.

Most of us have seen an ultrasound image of a growing fetus. The use of sound waves to generate images in medicine is a widely employed technique that has been around for many years. More recently, however, doctors and researchers have been looking at ways to use high-intensity focused ultrasound to actually treat major diseases, including cancer.

High-intensity focused ultrasound generates tissue-killing levels of heat using narrowly targeted spots of ultrasonic waves, and the technique is being employed to treat brain tumors, tremors, uterine fibroids, breast and bone tumors, and many other conditions. There are no surgical incisions involved in the treatment, and other imaging techniques, like magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, are used to precisely guide treatment and measure temperature changes in the tissue.

?The beauty of this treatment is that it is a non-invasive way to effectively treat a wide range of medical issues,? explains?Dr. Ferenc Jolesz, Co-Principal Investigator of the National Center for Image-Guided Therapy at Brigham and Women?s Hospital (BWH). ?It?s also very versatile, enabling us to reach certain areas that would not be possible through conventional surgery.?

MR-guided focused ultrasound was pioneered at BWH by Dr. Jolesz and his team, and a BWH research program in focused ultrasound surgery is being led by Dr. Nathan McDannold. Currently, studies include the use of focused ultrasound to treat brain tumors, chronic pain, and tremors through a closed skull. Using lower doses of focused ultrasound, BWH researchers are also working to open the blood-brain barrier, a shield of tightly packed cells in the blood vessels that protects the brain but often prevents medications from reaching the brain to treat tumors and neurologic diseases.

Dr. Clare Tempany, Co-Principal Investigator of the National Center for Image-Guided Therapy at BWH, was among the first to evaluate focused ultrasound treatment for uterine fibroids, now FDA approved for this purpose and performed at BWH. MR-guided focused ultrasound surgery is generally suitable for women with fibroids less than 10 cm in size, no extensive scarring from prior surgery, and no future plans for pregnancy. Other research areas for focused ultrasound include treatment breast and bone tumors and cardiac arrhythmias.

?The opportunities for this technology really are endless,? says Dr. Jolesz.
